Description

Master printmaker Johanna Mueller of Fort Collins-based FeverishArt, and juror of the Tiny Art Show on exhibit at Carbondale Arts June 1 through 29, will lead a one day workshop on Saturday, June 2, from 10am til 3pm using engraving techniques on plastic plates at the max.ink project shop, located inside S.A.W. (Studio For Arts + Works) at 525 Buggy Circle in Carbondale. Participants will learn how to carve and print their own tiny works of art! Bring a lunch or grab something nearby from 12:30 til 1pm.

There is something truly extraordinary about losing oneself in the detail and fine delicacy of a tiny work of art. Its smallness doesn’t diminish its capacity for unbounded beauty, emotional depth, and a compelling sense of wonder. Tiny art can speak volumes! From keyhole worlds to miniature marvels, the possibilities are endless.

Materials: If you have it at home, bring it! (if you don't, don't worry; there will be enough to share!)

- Sharpie (thin tip)
- Red Permanent Marker or sharpie (thick)
- pencil
- sketchbook
- any pre drawing or design thoughts to bring to workshop
- Please come prepared with a small drawing in black and white, 3"x3" or 2"x3"
- Preliminary Research if needed: Pen and ink drawings transfer well to the relief engraving method. Google "wood engraving prints" for image ideas and expected line quality.  Generally, pencil drawings with shading are not as easy to re-create as high contrast images with black, white, line and pattern.

Class size is limited to 8 participants.
$120 for members, $130 for non members.
